The Causes and Effects of Global Warming
Many scientists are trying to explain one thing, what really causes global warming and climate change? In reality we can classify these two things as one in the same as they are basically the same thing but with different names. In order to understand climate change we must first look at the Earth as a whole. When you think about it we are extremely lucky to be living on our planet. In the solar system, Earth is the third planet from the sun which gives it a prime spot to support life. It's close enough to the sun to get the energy that it needs to sustain life, but the Earth is also far enough away from the sun so that the planet doesn't get burned by the radiation. But what also is cool about our planet is that it's wrapped around in a blanket of these things called greenhouse gases. These gases keep the Earth warm and protect it from the harmful radiation of the sun. One of these gases however is CO2, better known to most as Carbon Dioxide. This gas keeps the ozone going and is a main player in keeping our planet warm.
But some people question; what is the problem? I don't see how a gas can cause such a big problem as this global warming! When you get down to it though, the CO2 gas is being released at a rapid rate and is starting to build up more and more. While some may think this is , it's actually destroying the planet from the inside. The reason? CO2 is starting to warm our planet up degree by degree the more and more it is released and building up. But you may ask how we are just now releasing this CO2 gas so rapidly now. The answer is something that we actual do every day; burning fossil fuels such as coal and oil. Coal and oil, but dont we need those things to live? While it is true that we do need these to fuel our energy needs, we need to look to other sources of fuel. Because whether you like it or not these fossil fuels which are causing global warming are also costing us energy and instead is fueling the energy crisis. We use these fossil fuels every day in our cars and our air support. But what does that really mean? A single car can usually emit around as much CO2 gas as about three cars put together, and that's during only one year! Even then our airplanes use way much more energy than we need to be spending and in turn emit so much CO2 gas that it's insane.
So now that we know the causes of global warming, how is it affecting us today? To be plain and simple the reality is global warming could end up killing our planet slowly. The water that we use could easily evaporate faster due to the rising temperatures. Those same rising temperatures can lead to droughts and end up displacing the water that we truly need elsewhere. The temperatures can burn down forests, cause wildfires and in some places can even cause floods. But how does that relate back to the energy crisis? The truth is we are contributing this because we are trying to reduce our energy costs. Burning the fossil fuels and emitting all that CO2 gas is contributing to global warming. With the rising problem in our world it is a horrible thought to even think. If we don't change our ways and look for a brighter future with other energy sources, we may as well say to our planet goodbye. Researchers are attempting to come up with new sources of energy so that we may start using those instead of fossil fuels such as oil and coal. But have we started too late? And do we really have a chance to save our planet? Only time will tell, so now we need to look for better solutions that what we have now; for our planet's sake.
